A good rule of thumb is to have an agreement or a contract for your Coaching terms (length), expectations, and scope of work.

There are a few best practices for doing this effectively. Most formal Coaching packages, courses and trainings use the contract from the “Sales Page, Order Page and Terms of Service” however, you could summarize those things you’re getting for your investment.

 While you could do that to make sure that you’re getting what you need and that you two are clear on what you’ll be accomplishing and how, many losely go about their Coaching without doing this. It can lead to negative consequences and diminish your returns.

Here are a few tips for setting up your agreements and Coaching service contracts:

1.) Have them send you an email with exactly what they are going to do for you, support you with and give you access to with your coaching package.

2.) Specify, time of contract, topic of coaching, price and expectations! Also be clear on what’s required of you, for example, being on time, doing homework, replying to emails, being honest, etc… Make sure both of you sign or acknowledge the final “working” agreement (meaning it can be mutually added to or modified as you progress).

3.) Always include a quick mention of what your benchmarks will be and even a worst case scenario that spells out, what it would look like if you two needed to discontinue your relationship.
